Wendy Donawa has lived an island life: early years on Vancouver Island; then three decades in Barbados as teacher, artist, and museum curator. She returned to Victoria some years ago to complete her Ph.D. and has settled there, a happily eclectic and independent academic. Her poems have appeared in Canadian and Caribbean literary journals, and in two chapbooks edited by Patrick Lane. She was recently awarded first prize for poetry in the Victoria Writers’ Society’s 2009 Summer competition
