Joelene Heathcote is a writer and poet currently living in Victoria. She has won many contests and awards for her fiction, poetry, and non-fiction, and been included in anthologies Breaking the Surface, Mocambopo, Translit:Volumn 7, and String to Bow (Leaf Press). She is a previous winner of the Florida Review Editor’s Choice Award, and, most recently, the ArtBar Poetry Contest. Her book, What’s Between Us Can’t Be Heard (2002) was a finalist for the Pat Lowther Award. Inherit the Earth is an excerpt from a larger manuscript in progress.
