Denise Riley

Denise Riley was born in 1948 in Carlisle. She teaches at the School of English and American Studies at the University of East Anglia. Her non-fiction books include War in the Nursery: Theories of the Child and Mother (1983); ‘Am I That Name?’: Feminism and the Category of ‘Women’ in History (1988); The Words of Selves: Identification, Solidarity, Irony (2000); The Flesh of Words (2004: with Jean-Jacques Lecercle); and Impersonal Passion: Language as Affect (2004). She edited Poets on Writing: Britain 1970-1991 (1992). Her collections of poetry include Dry Air (1985); Mop Mop Georgette: New and Selected Poems 1986-1993 (1993); and Selected Poems (2000).
